Get yourself a beverage and carve out a few hours for this book. You’ll want to make a plan to read The Best Man Plan by Jaci Burton if you’re into fun, sassy heroines (who isn’t?). I really liked these characters and already put another book from Jaci’s Boots & Bouquets series in my TBR list.
A quick note: this book takes place at our main gal’s Erin Bellini’s family vineyard and event space. There is a lot of chitty chat about wine in this book. If you’re staying away from the sauce and reading about people imbibing is a trigger, this book might not be for you.
Owen, Jason and Erin have been best buds since, uhmmmm, forever. They have grown up together in their small town in Oklahoma and reside there today. Erin and her two sisters work for the family business organizing and executing weddings held at the acreage. Owen and Erin are together and are about to get hitched in a matter of hours. Hours, people. He sends a cryptic email that he doesn’t see this working out and he high-tails it outta dodge.
Erin relies on her sisters to puke and rally. She holds the reception anyway (what a badass!) and with the help of Jason acting like the bouncer at an exclusive jilted bride club, nobody asks Erin how she’s doing with the news. That is a solid friend, amirite?!
Erin’s looking for a revenge fling to get her mind off of the emotional carnage. Jason’s cute. He’s available. In other words, no harm, no foul, right?
Jason isn’t looking for revenge on Owen for taking off per se. Similarly, he doesn’t want to take advantage of his uber-emotional (and good looking) friend who he’s been pining for in secret for a minute. What’s a guy to do, what’s a guy to do…
This is my first Jaci Burton book, and I’m a goner. She writes good stuff. Some steamy romantic business, some sassy heroine remarks, someone getting their head outta their arse. All the makings for a really great book.
